Ready . . . Set . . . Launch! The ‘It Jes’ Happened’ launch party

I’ve never thrown a launch party for the books I’ve illustrated. Not exactly sure why. Maybe I worried no one would come party with me. Maybe I feared falling flat on my face in front of friends and family. Maybe I figured no one would care to buy a book that I helped create. Well yesterday, I threw a launch party for my first authored book It Jes’ Happened: When Bill Traylor Started to Draw. I was so wrong! So many of my friends were there. Friends from the children’s literature community. Friends from my church. Friends who work with me at the Statesman. It was so very nice. Thanks to everyone who helped make the day so special. Here are a few pics:

I made the marquee!

So many supporters! So nice.

Tamera Tate (aka The Wife) gives an energetic introduction.

My friends with the Sweethearts & Scoundrels.

Thanks to Donna Bowman Bratton and Jeanette Larson who took the great pics!
